The collective agreement is a collective agreement negotiated through collective bargaining between the faculty and the Staff Association (FSA) and the UFV. This agreement defines the terms and conditions of employment of UFV`s unionized teachers and staff, as well as the rights, privileges and obligations of the union, employer and workers. The functions of the term faculty are covered by Article 18.2 (teaching faculty missions) of the collective agreement, in particular the components of teaching and service. Type of employment: temporary position under the central collective agreement. The UFV is cooperating with the Post-Secondary Employers Association (PSEA) to ensure that the negotiated agreement is in line with the mandate for sustainable services. The Sustainable Services Bargaining Mandate applies to all public service employers with unionized workers whose collective agreements expire on December 31, 2018 or after December 31, 2018. The Sustainable Services Negotiation Mandate supports the government`s commitment to improving the services people rely on, making life more affordable and investing in sustainable economic growth. The mandate is consistent with B.C`s commitment to balanced budgets and good financial management. Currently, nearly 325,000 public sector employees – almost 98% – are covered by interim agreements or ratified as part of B.C`s sustainable services negotiating mandate. The collective agreement between the faculty and the Staff Association (FSA), which represents faculty and staff at all campus sites, and the university expired on March 31, 2019. The parties will begin negotiations for a renewed collective agreement on February 21, 2020.

Requirements: To be qualified for a post-doctoral employment, you must have a phD or a foreign diploma corresponding to a doctorate in mathematics or applied mathematics. The PhD must not have been obtained more than three years before the application deadline. The physics department is looking for qualified candidates who are in-house in the UFV for a limited term in the academic year 2020-2021. This LTA is scheduled for a 12-month appointment (August 1, 2020 to July 31, 2021) and includes the preparation and teaching of six (6) physics and/or engineering courses in addition to certain services for the department and university.
